SPEND AUSTRALIA DAY WITH THE KEYSTONE GROUP
Sydney’s premier hospitality company, The Keystone Group will kick off a host of Australia Day celebrations across their venues on Sunday, January 26.
Whether it’s soaking up the sun while enjoying a BBQ at your favourite rooftop establishment, playing lawn bowls by the harbour listening to Triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown or watching the Australian Open on a big screen, The Keystone Group has you covered – and with Monday the 27th a national public holiday, there’s all the more reason to party.
Cargo Bar will host their renowned harbour-side lawn bowls in one of Sydney’s favourite beer gardens while counting down Triple J’s Hottest 100 for 2013. A stellar line up of acts will then set up the electric atmostphere including DJs Kato, Mo Funk, John Glover and Oakes & Lennox.
The perfect destination to celebrate from day to night, Sugarmill Hotel will offer the quintessential Aussie experience. From midday, guests can soak up the sun with a drink in hand and enjoy the Sweethearts Rooftop BBQ with a spectacular view of the city skyline.
Downstairs at Sugarmill Hotel, sports fans can enjoy the Australian Open played on a big screen, with the Aussie favourite $10 steak also on offer.
The doors at Kit & Kaboodle will open at 9pm for the ultimate after party with beats by Nukewood, Oakes & Lennox, Discokid, Steve Frank, Six Fingers, Nanna Does Smack and Oh Glam.
Newtown Hotel’s Cider Yard will be transformed into a pool party scene to celebrate Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2013! During the day guests can enjoy a barbeque by the cider tree with super soakers to escalate the fun while DJs Purple Sneakers and Shag will provide the beats moving into the evening.
For a family friendly affair, Bungalow 8 have dialed up the activities this year, with jumping castles and painting for the kids while adults can get involved in the dunking tank, pie-eating contest and the all- Aussie thong-throwing competition! An accoustic set by Duan And Only will provide a relaxed vibe during the day and will move into party beats in the evening provided by the likes of Turbo, Micky D and Danny Simms to keep the party pumping until early morning.
The Bucket List
The stunning beachside venue will be celebrating Australia Day from 11am until midnight. Aussie specials include BBQ Prawns, Lamb snags & Pavlova with passionfruit cream and fresh mango. Patrons will also receive a complementary XXXX GOLD stubby holder, not too mentioned the iconic location!!
DJ’s will be playing from 2pm- free entry, no bookings required.
Australia Day at Crank Fins will be fun for the whole family with free face painting happening for the kids. The regular A la carte menu will be be available from 11am and Australia Day Slushies (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be served on the Balcony.

FLOATILLA – Lilo Party @ Venue TBC
Ok last year there was an impromptu lilo party held at Milk Beach that was an absolute corker… It has come back this year bigger and better with over 3,000 RSVPing ‘Yes’ on the facebook group.
The venue has since had to change due to the pilic and council shutting it down at Milk Beach – however we live in hope that a new venue will be soucred asap.

SUN-SOAKED SOUNDS AND SPIRITS TO SAVOUR AT THE ROCKS AUSTRALIA DAY
Celebrations don’t come much bigger than The Rocks Australia Day annual festivities in Sydney, and 2014 will be no exception. This year, organisers are set to deliver an event that highlights some of the most loved music acts in the country, alongside interactive installations and games taking over George Street that will bring the sounds and celebration of summer to the streets of The Rock’s.
Taking place from 12noon to 6pm – and all for free! The event will feature a selection of incredible artists and activities across various locations within The Rocks including George Street, The Rocks Square and First Fleet Park – giving Sydneysiders a plethora of options to keep their Australia day celebrations kicking on in style!
Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority Chief Executive Officer Catherine Gallagher says, “We really look forward to sharing Australia Day with Sydneysiders down at The Rocks. The program we’ve put together will deliver a wonderful, festive celebration of music and community; a highlight on the Australia Day calendar of events, with a great line-up of fantastic Australian musical talent.”
Music-lovers on the day will be able to revel in a stellar line up of Australian musical artists including Melbourne soul-funk band The Bamboos; break beat, hip hop and world music outfit Tijuana Cartel; and visual art-freestyle rap fusionist Sketch the Rhyme. Indigenous artists include Emma Donovan and The Putbacks and pop-folk duo Microwave Jenny taking to the stage to perform tracks from their latest releases.
Up-and-coming duo Jones Jnr are set to perform at the transformed Rocks Square, while Papua New Guinean born singer-songwriter Ngaiire will bring her own brand of soul, folk and smooth vocals in a live set that’s sure to resonate with listeners, young and old.
One of Australia’s hottest live outfits Kira Puru and The Bruise will keep the day on a high with their signature mix of clammy grit and tropical, dreamy folktronica, before Sydney-meets-Adelaide “internet teen pop” duo Collarbones take to the stage to round out a truly diverse musical lineup.
Ever wanted to picnic and dance on Sydney’s main street? Well here’s your chance. George Street will provide a buzzing hive of festivity on the day, transforming into a tropical sound playground by the beach with unique experiences for the whole family. Revelers will be able to grab a delicious cocktail from one of the festival’s many pop up bars, join in on some volley ball and other fun games and lounge in a paddling pool while listening to lively beats and sultry sounds at the Tiki Bar.
Those after something a little livelier will look no further than the Karaoke Stage where punters can belt out a ballad or make their way to Hubbub Music’s Sound Garden a wacky interactive music making station filled with all sorts of instruments crafted out of recycled materials.
Offering up a slightly different breed of entertainment will be the Lolo Lovina Caravan Stage, where gypsy world fusion band Lolo Lovina, blues-jazz outfit The Rusty Spring Syncopators and swing-inspired collective Godfrey Uke and his Orchestra will play diverse live sets throughout the day. Those in the need of a little retail therapy and some mouth-watering food delights should look no further than The Rocks Markets.

Marquee Sydney is blazing into 2014 with a hot line up of international and local music talent including Pete Tong, Funkagenda and Max Vangeli.
On Friday 10 January which was cemented by a season residency at Pacha Ibiza alongside Pete Tong, Erick Morillo and David Guetta, culminating in the latter inviting him to be his official support act for his David Guetta October Asia Tour –Marquee favourite and resident DJ, K Note will spin up a storm, while US DJ and producer Shogun continues the party on Saturday 11 January with his trance and progressive tracks. Shogun has remixed for top DJs including Armin Van Buuren and was a resident DJ at Ministry of Sound Tapei for 3 years.
DJ Zannon will bring his signature mash ups and club bangers to Marquee on Friday 17 January, having played at international festivals, events and clubs including WMC Miami, Travelling and playing internationally and across Australia at big festivals, events and clubs including Playhouse Hollywood, Marquee Sydney, Billboard Melbourme, Future Music Festival, WMC Miami and Good Life Festival to name a fePlayhouse Hollywood and Future Music Festival.
Marquee is excited to host electronic music legend, Pete Tong on Saturday 18 January. With a career spanning over 25 years, the UK DJ and producer has made his mark by hosting programs on BBC Radio 1 such as Essential Mix and Essential Selection, pioneering Pacha club nights including All Gone Pete Tong and most recently releasing The Pete Tong Collection in 2013.
Homegrown talent Helena will add to the mix on Saturday 18 with her progressive house and electro tunes, recently performing at Ultra Music Festival Miami and dropping her debut single Girl From The Sky which shot to #1 on the Australian club chart.
Nino Brown will live up to his accolade as Australia’s top urban DJ on Friday 24 January, the multi award-winner of Best DJ at the Urban Music Awards has been entertaining crowds with his hip hop and R&B anthems for over 15 years.
Saturday 25 January will see UK talent Funkagenda bring his big house sound to Marquee, the award-winning DJ’s awards include DJ Mag’s ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ and remixing Grammy-nominated The E.N.D by Black Eyed Peas. Australian talent Chardy will add his spin that night with hits like Sassafras featuring Timmy Trumpet, reaching #1 on the ARIA dance chart.
European-born and San Francisco-based DJ, Max Vangeli will bring an international flavour to Marquee’s Australia Day celebrations on Sunday 26 January, with hits from his debut album People of the Night featuring Steve Angello
and Tiësto.
The Soda Factory
Already making plans for Australia’s most beloved day of the year? Look no further than one of Sydney’s most beloved late-night secret sweet spots…The Soda Factory. A collaborative party festival between OzParty and T1000 the creators of the legendary SW4 in London. This is SW4′s first festival in Australia and no expense is being spared with additional staging and a winning line-up featuring some of Sydney’s top resident DJ’s.
MERIVALE
Merivale is celebrating Australia Day 2014 with a host of sizzling events across the group’s unrivalled range of bars, from a mammoth courtyard party at ivy to a recovery cinema session at The Beresford Hotel.
ivy will embrace the green and gold fever with two massive day parties on Sunday 26 January. The ‘Australian Day Courtyard Party’ boasts an epic 12 hour DJ fest featuring sets by What So Not, The Proxy, Will Sparks, The 2 Bears and Joel Fletcher. Meanwhile up at Pool Club, Sydney’s unrivalled rooftop pool party mecca, Marco Polo, will open its doors at 1pm and feature a smashing headline set by Nora En Pure.
The Beresford Hotel, will be the place to enjoy the sun and wind down in Surry Hills’ this Australia Day Weekend. Its premier weekly gay party, Beresford Sundays, is celebrating with a Diva Fever take-over upstairs, headlined by DJ Chris Cox of Thunderpuss fame. Then on Monday 27 January, Beresford’s leafy courtyard will transform into a free Surry Hill’s backyard cinema with a special screening of the much-loved Aussie classic, ‘Muriel’s Wedding’. Guests can enjoy $15 Pasta and Pinot from Beresford’s Italian trattoria.
The El Loco gang are also tipping their sombreros in honour of the nation’s favourite day. Open from 12midday, the Excelsior cantina will offer delicioso kangaroo tacos and mini lamb hotdogs, along with $25 buckets of Corona and DJs all day. The bottle shop will be open and a great place to pick up $3 bags of ice for those wanting to continue the Aussie fiesta at home.
The Oaks Australia Day
Enjoy an outdoor barbie in the sunny beer garden, with The Oaks’ signature cook-your-own steak station running all day long. You’ll be well fed with the $20 rump steak special, which comes with salad, a baked potato and bread roll*.
